Trustworthy Civil Bridge Inspection Through Human-Machine Intelligence Integration

This project uses a VR-based simulation platform and AI models trained on expert behaviors to improve the consistency and accuracy of bridge inspections. By analyzing how skilled inspectors navigate virtual bridges, the system identifies effective patterns and transfers them to trainees.
The simulation environment powered by PSC’s Bridges-2 supercomputer combines structural analysis (e.g., ANSYS), photogrammetry, and human behavior data to create a shared training ground for both humans and machines. It helps expose knowledge gaps and stress attention differences between experienced and novice inspectors.
